    Depression

Depression is a serious mood disorder that is not always easy to identify. People who suffer from this condition go through periods where the things that used to bring them joy no longer bring them happiness. It is more than just a bad day; it’s feeling sad, tired, lonely or unmotivated for several weeks or more. It can be brought on by a tragic life event, or nothing at all. Some people are more predisposed to suffering from depression than others, especially if it runs in the family.

If you or a loved one is suffering from depression, don’t take it lightly. Consult with your doctor, who will be able to make recommendations on how to get started on a course of action to start feeling better.

    •      Overwhelming feelings of sadness
    •      Irritability
    •      Hopelessness
    •      Feelings of worthlessness, helplessness
    •      Difficulty sleeping
    •      Decreased energy or fatigue
    •      Thoughts of death or suicide

No two people are the same when affected with depression. Some treatments may work for some and not for others. It may take some trial and error to find a treatment that works for you. Treatments usually include medications and psychotherapy.
