Back again with another segment of Ask The Experts. This time we speak with Dr. Leonard A. Lado, M.D. about chronic pain and substance abuse issues.
The opioid crisis is one of the largest challenges currently facing the United States. In 2019 alone, more than 49,000 people died as a result of an opioid-related overdose. Finding a solution to this ongoing crisis has become essential to saving the lives of tens of thousands of Americans struggling with addiction.
Pain Resource’s Zachary Pottle sat down with Dr. Leonard Lado to talk about the ongoing fight against opioid addiction in America. Dr. Lado is the Medical Director at The Willough at Naples Psychiatric Hospital and the Founder of the Lado Healing Institute. In his time as medical director for the Willoughs, Dr. Lado has faced all manner of drug and alcohol addiction and is no stranger to the current opioid crisis.
During his time with Pain Resource, Dr. Lado spoke about his role as medical director for the Willoughs at Naples, as well as how his facility treats opioid addictions. Dr. Lado also spoke about how the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated drug and alcohol addictions, specifically in communities that were not previously at risk.
